This week, we begin shaping the new Farm Bill — and for Iowa, that’s a big deal.
Why it matters: Nearly 97% of Iowa farms are family-owned operations. Farmers plan years ahead, and they often borrow against crops that haven’t even been planted yet. They don’t ask Washington for much — just the certainty that the rules won’t change halfway through the season.
Zoom out: The Farm Bill isn’t just about agriculture — it affects every kitchen table in Iowa. It helps determine what you pay at the grocery store, what you spend at the fuel pump, and what farmers earn for the crops that power our economy.
I’ve recorded a short message on what this bill must deliver for Iowa producers and families. ⬇️
As we move this bill forward, here’s what I’m fighting for:
🌐 Rural Broadband — Expanding reliable internet access to rural homes, farms, and small businesses.
🚜 New & Beginning Farmers — Helping the next generation keep family farms strong and sustainable.
👵 Iowa Seniors — Strengthening rural food delivery programs so seniors can access meals without long travel.
🐾 Man’s Best Friend — Cracking down on puppy mill abuse and holding repeat offenders accountable.
Bottom Line: Iowa farmers deserve certainty, and Iowa families deserve lower costs. I’m working to make sure this Farm Bill delivers both.
