Running a small business means making payroll, serving customers, investing in your employees, and figuring out how to turn the next opportunity into growth. It shouldn’t mean spending hours navigating Washington paperwork or wondering what the tax code will look like a year from now.
I brought together leaders from NFIB and the SBA to hear directly from Iowa business owners who sign the front of the paycheck. ⬇️
What we heard: Iowa entrepreneurs want the certainty and freedom to run their operation without Washington driving up costs or burying them in paperwork.
We’ve already delivered some major wins through the Working Families Tax Cuts:
🏪 Keep more of what you earn: Iowa businesses can put more money back into hiring workers, raising wages, or growing their operation.
🚜 Buy the equipment you need: A farmer buying a tractor or a manufacturer adding a new production line can write off the cost right away.
💡 Build the next big idea: Iowa businesses can immediately write off investments in new products, technology, and better ways of doing business.
What’s new: We passed my Protecting Small Businesses from Excessive Paperwork Act through the House and pushed the Administration to give Iowa businesses relief from burdensome federal reporting requirements. Just last week, the Treasury Department officially eliminated the requirement altogether for American businesses. That’s what happens when we listen to folks on Iowa’s Main Streets and take their concerns to Washington: we deliver results.
Why it matters: Every dollar and every hour an Iowa business saves on taxes and Washington paperwork is another resource they can put toward a new employee, a new piece of equipment, or the next opportunity to grow.
Bottom Line: Iowa’s small business owners know what they need to succeed. Our job is to listen, deliver results, and get Washington out of the way so they can keep building, hiring, and investing right here at home.
