We all see the crisis at the border, and with Title 42 expiring, the border crisis is about to get even worse. More than 10,000 illegal crossings are happening every single day, and that number is expected to grow.
That’s why this week I took several concrete steps to help with the crisis at the southern border:
-
I Introduced a bipartisan bill to extend Title 42 expulsion authority for two years to get our border crisis under control while we keep pushing forward with strong, long-term immigration reform.
-
I voted for the Secure the Border Act, which would increase the number of border patrol agents, strengthen physical security, protect unaccompanied children from human trafficking, streamline the asylum process, and more.
-
I helped introduce the Stop Fentanyl Money Laundering Act to investigate money laundering being used for fentanyl trafficking by China and Mexico in financial institutions.
-
I helped introduce the Stop Chinese Fentanyl Act to hold Chinese entities accountable for producing, selling, financing or transporting synthetic opioids.
Will you let me know what you think about the situation on the border?
Protecting the border means protecting our country’s sovereignty, our national security, and the safety of all Americans. I will continue to put common sense policy forward to accomplish that mission.
