The House Foreign Affairs Committee’s first hearing on the disastrous U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan was this week. The fact that that it’s taken almost 2 years to address this tragedy that took the lives of 13 U.S. service members is pathetic.
As your new representative in Congress, I am proud to step up to the plate and demand accountability to make sure this never happens again.
I am here to say: nothing about the Afghanistan withdrawal was a success. Even worse, the volatility of our withdrawal caused Afghanistan to fall quickly, and many other aggressors around the world like China and Russia have taken notice of the lack of leadership from our country.
As a combat veteran with tours of duty in Afghanistan, I will not stand by and watch Americans, Afghan allies, and millions of dollars of military equipment be left behind with no consequences. Watch here:
My work will never be done until every single American, our allies and their families are out of Afghanistan – and we ensure that a military disaster of this magnitude never happens again.
