Yesterday, our community experienced deadly and destructive storms. In order to provide support and better understand the need for federal resources to aid recovery efforts, I flew back from Washington, D.C. today to spend time with folks in Greenfield who experienced severe damage.
Thank you to the law enforcement, linemen, medical professionals, and volunteers who are working to rebuild impacted areas in Greenfield and across the state. As we unite as a community, my team and I stand ready to help. Below are resources currently available to the Greenfield community:
- There is a community shelter at the Nodaway Valley High School. The Red Cross is providing water, food, and blankets to anyone in need. If you’re unable to get to the shelter or in need of additional assistance, please dial 1-800-RED-CROSS for immediate help.
- We are hosting mobile office hours in Greenfield on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the Union State Bank. Please stop by if you need federal assistance.

Unfortunately, natural disasters like tornados and bad storms happen often in our state. These storms are unpredictable and can strike at a moment’s notice. In order to keep your family safe, make sure you’ve created an emergency preparedness plan so everyone knows how to respond when the sirens sound off.
