When the government created Medicare and Social Security, it made a promise to Americans. Iowans worked hard, paid into these programs for years, and planned their futures around these benefits.
Let me be clear – I’m 100% dedicated to protecting Social Security and Medicare. While other politicians may threaten to play games with your benefits, I’ll always do everything in my power to protect them.
With inflation at an all-time high, rising costs are hurting retirees on a fixed income. It’s harder for every family to buy everyday goods, but even harder for those living on their Social Security payment.
That’s why I introduced the bipartisan Safeguarding Social Security and Medicare Act to make a plan to ensure retirees receive their full benefits despite the added challenges created by inflation.
Bottom Line: I will do everything in my power to ensure Iowans can continue to count on their Social Security and Medicare benefits. This bill is a commonsense step in the right direction.
