The crisis at our Southern Border is putting our communities in jeopardy, even though Iowa is more than 1,000 miles away. In the past four years, more than 8 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border. Cartels are exploiting this crisis to flood our country with fentanyl and endanger lives through human trafficking.
Let me be clear: The Biden-Harris Administration’s open-border policies are making all of us less safe.
Here’s a real-life example straight from our community: Earlier this year, the Des Moines Police Department seized 30,000 pills (the largest bust in department history!) that were smuggled from the Southern Border right into our community.
In Congress, I’m fighting back to protect our communities by:
- Protecting our communities by passing legislation to secure the Southern Border
- Combatting violent crime by supporting legislation to increase community safety and improve our immigration system
- Overturning soft on crime policies by passing legislation to back the blue and support our law enforcement
- Protecting children online by championing bipartisan legislation to catch predators and stop child exploitation and abuse
- Holding the Administration accountable for open-border policies by passing legislation demanding solutions to the growing crisis
- Investing in mental health support for those battling addiction by securing a federal investment for the Polk County Life Services Center
- Fighting the drug epidemic by passing legislation making penalties for illegal fentanyl possession and sales harsher
- Saving lives from fentanyl overdoses by introducing bipartisan legislation to expand access to over-the-counter naloxone
- Helping prevent new addictions by introducing bipartisan legislation to support research into new chronic pain treatment plans
