Today, We Thank Our Veterans

This Veterans Day, let us remember that freedom is not free. The men and women who serve in the armed forces put service to their country above themselves. They complete their tour of duty honorably to protect our country, our freedoms, and our way of life.

We owe America’s veterans a debt of gratitude. We must always support those who have put their life on the line for our nation. In Congress, I’ve partnered with fellow veterans to stand up for America’s veterans by:

  • Reducing veteran suicide by passing my bipartisan legislation to support veterans when they return home from duty.
  • Supporting military parents in the National Guard and Reserve by passing my bill to expand parental leave into law.
  • Backing those who enlist by passing the largest pay raise for our troops in our nation’s history.
  • Ensuring healthcare access for veterans by passing legislation to fully fund VA benefits.
  • Empowering veteran entrepreneurs by leading legislation for grants to start veteran-owned small businesses.
  • Securing full benefits for combat-disabled retirees by promoting legislation to prevent the reduction of veterans’ disability compensation and retirement pay.

In addition to these priorities, I’m continuing to fight for our nation’s veterans to receive the benefits they deserve. If you or a loved one is a veteran facing an issue with the VA or other federal agencies, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office at 515-400-8180 or visit nunn.house.gov/veterans.

America is the land of the free because of the brave. Please join me in saluting America’s veterans today!
