It’s Small Business Saturday! Today, and throughout this holiday season, I’m encouraging you to take a moment to swing by one of Iowa’s nearly 270,000 small businesses, make a purchase, and post on social media using #MainStreetChallenge with your favorite storefront in the background!
Iowa’s small businesses employ more than half of our state’s workforce and we must support these job creators. Throughout my 21-county tours across our community, I’ve visited many small businesses:
- Sonrisers Popcorn in Clarinda, where I learned how much extra it can cost a small business to navigate red tape from the federal government.
- Fire and Salt Co. in Corning, where I learned how we can cut red tape to help them sell Iowa-raised red meat.
- Berg Electric in Atlantic, where I learned how Congress can support apprenticeships and good paying jobs.
- Keane Thummel Trucking in New Market, to discuss how investing in critical infrastructure helps small businesses work together.
Stories of success can be found around our state – but to continue these stories, we must invest in our communities to help them grow. Take the #MainStreetChallenge today and let’s help our hometowns thrive!
