There’s no way around it — in Iowa and around the country, we’re seeing a youth mental health crisis that is harming families and our communities.
Investing in mental health and recovery resources for kids who are struggling is one of the most important things we can do to strengthen Iowa’s future. That’s why I fought to secure $1.6 million for the Youth Shelter Service Ember Recovery Campus near Cambridge, putting federal resources to work combating this crisis where it is needed most.

Yesterday, I stood with Governor Reynolds and Senator Grassley to officially cut the ribbon on this incredible facility. YSS is doing the work on the ground to help at-risk youth and give families hope that things can get better.
The campus sits on 50 acres of open, peaceful land, including therapy spaces, wellness rooms, and outdoor areas designed to help young Iowans heal and rebuild.
Bottom Line: The mental health crisis won’t fix itself. I’ll keep fighting for real solutions that bring aid into our communities, because every Iowan deserves the chance to grow up healthy, strong, and hopeful.
