Iowa’s Main Street businesses drive local economies — from Mount Ayr to Creston and everywhere in between. 99% of all Iowa businesses are small businesses, and they’re the backbone of our communities and the heart of small-town life.
The problem: For years, Washington has added layers of red tape and bureaucracy that drive up costs, slow growth, and make it harder for businesses to serve Iowans.
Why it matters: When business owners spend more time checking boxes than helping customers, Iowa communities pay the price. Jobs dry up, storefronts shutter, and Main Street momentum stalls.
Red tape doesn’t just drive up costs for businesses — it hits Iowa families at the pump, in the checkout line, and on everyday essentials. That’s why I’m working with House leadership on commonsense legislation to cut red tape, lower costs, and deliver relief for Iowa families and Main Street businesses. ⬇️
I also helped pass two bills through the House this week to:
✅ Create a hotline for small business owners to report burdensome red tape
✅ Prohibit any new regulations that would increase compliance costs for small businesses
Bottom Line: Iowa’s economy works best when small businesses aren’t buried in paperwork. I’ll keep working to roll back costly federal regulations and deliver real savings for Iowa families.
