Iowa’s Main Street businesses are the backbone of our economy. They don’t ask for special treatment — just clear rules, predictability, and a fair shot to compete and grow.
This week, I sat down with small business owners from across Iowa to share an update on the work we’re championing in D.C. We’re focused on commonsense tax policies that help local businesses expand their storefronts, invest in their teams, and strengthen the communities they call home.
Why it matters: When Main Street is empowered to invest in its future, those dollars don’t sit on a balance sheet — it goes to work across Iowa. It means the local daycare can hire more staff, the hardware store can upgrade its equipment, and the family-owned diner can reward hardworking employees with a raise.
In addition to delivering a fairer, more pro-growth tax system, we’re also cutting red tape that too often holds Iowa businesses back, including:
✅ The Clarity for Compensation Act — removing outdated rules so independent financial advisors can operate and get paid like other small businesses.
✅ The ELEVATE Act — reducing unnecessary SEC hurdles so emerging companies can access investment capital.
✅ The Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Act — modernizing USDA’s rural lending program to help small businesses access capital and grow.
✅ The Protect Small Businesses from Excessive Paperwork Act — rolling back burdensome, complex federal reporting requirements for small business owners that waste time and money.
Bottom Line: Main Street works best when Washington gets out of the way. I’ll keep fighting to give Iowa’s small businesses the certainty they need to grow, hire, and power our economy forward.
