Iowa farmers plan in the winter, plant in the spring, work through the summer, and harvest in the fall. But too many Iowa producers are being forced to wait on Washington instead of planning ahead — and that uncertainty puts our agricultural economy at risk.
That’s exactly why I was in Red Oak last week, sitting down with local farmers at one of my regular ag roundtables to hear directly from the folks doing the work about what they need to stay competitive and keep their operations moving forward.
What I heard: Input costs are still too high. Margins are too tight. And certainty matters more than ever. Farmers welcomed the 45Z guidance we fought to secure last week — but they were equally clear that Washington can’t stop there. Year-round E15 remains a top priority, along with a farm bill that actually works for Iowa.
Here’s how I’m taking those priorities straight to Washington: ⬇️
Why it matters: Certainty isn’t an abstract policy goal — it’s how we protect Iowa’s 87,000 family farms, keep fuel and food costs down, and give rural communities the confidence to grow, invest, and hire.
Bottom Line: When Iowa farmers speak, I listen — and I’ll keep bringing their voices to Washington and fighting for policies that deliver certainty for rural America.
