Illegal Chinese vapes — candy-flavored, FDA-unapproved, and deliberately designed to hook kids on nicotine — are flooding communities across America. As a dad of six, I share the concern of parents across Iowa who’ve sounded the alarm about these dangerous products.
The problem: Chinese vape manufacturers are smuggling these devices into the U.S. by disguising shipments as everyday goods, allowing them to slip past health inspections and evade safety oversight.
And the marketing is no accident:Â Â
🍬 Candy-flavored cartridges with bright, eye-catching packagingÂ
📱 Influencer marketing campaigns targeting youth-heavy platforms like Instagram and TikTokÂ
What’s new: I led a letter urging the Trump Administration to crack down on the surge of illegal Chinese vapes entering the U.S. and hold bad actors accountable.
Why it matters: When products designed overseas are deliberately targeting American kids, it’s not just a public health concern, it’s a national security issue — and Washington needs to treat it like one.
Bottom Line: Iowa families shouldn’t have to worry about foreign adversaries targeting our kids. I’ll keep fighting to hold China accountable and stop these illegal vapes from flooding our communities.
