Iowa farmers make decisions years in advance. They borrow against crops that are still in the ground, invest in equipment before they see a return, and plan for the next generation long before harvest season arrives.
When I started my Farm Bill listening tour three years ago, their ask was simple: give us certainty — not empty promises.
What’s new: This week in the House Agriculture Committee, I laid out for Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins what we’ve delivered for Iowa agriculture in just one year. ⬇️
⛽ Passed year-round, nationwide E15 through the House — ending the cycle of annual waivers and bringing Iowa-grown ethanol to pumps across the nation.
🚜 Delivered 21 wins in the House-passed Farm Bill — helping keep farms in the family, reducing barriers for beginning farmers, and expanding rural broadband access.
🏢 Brought USDA’s new National Food Safety Center to Urbandale — creating 200 jobs and relocating food safety operations from Washington to the heart of the heartland.
💰 Locked in $66 billion for the farm safety net — strengthening the support Iowa producers rely on when input costs spike and margins tighten.
Why it matters: More than 385,000 Iowans depend on Iowa’s agriculture for their livelihoods. They can’t afford uncertainty. Whether it’s access to markets, weathering a difficult year, or ensuring the next generation has a path into farming, Iowa families need confidence to plan for the future.
Bottom Line: Three years ago, Iowa farmers asked for certainty they could count on. We’ve delivered meaningful results by taking Iowa’s priorities to the nation’s capital and fighting to turn them into action. There’s more work ahead, but we’re building a stronger future for Iowa.
