✈️ Investments Iowa Families Can See

For Iowa families, getting where you’re going is part of everyday life — whether it’s a flight out of Des Moines for a family vacation, or a bus across the metro to a job or a class. Yesterday, we hosted U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to see two places where we’re making that easier.

We started at the Des Moines International Airport, where a new terminal is going up and, thanks to the $26 million I helped secure, the technology that guides planes safely in and out is being modernized. It’s the front door to our state, and it’s getting a long-overdue upgrade. Secretary Duffy and I broke it down together. ⬇️

Then it was across town to DART’s new bus garage, where we delivered $20 million so the crews who keep central Iowa’s buses running finally have a modern, safe place to do their work — instead of operating out of a facility built for buses half the size — and families get a more reliable ride, wherever they’re going.

Why it matters: When it’s easier and safer for Iowa families to get where they’re going, the rest follows. A parent takes the better job across town. A student signs up for that extra night class. A small business reaches customers it couldn’t before — and the paycheck, the diploma, and the sale all stay right here, growing our communities and Iowa’s economy with them. These are investments Iowans can finally see paying off, close to home.

Bottom Line: The best investments we can make are the ones that make it easier to live, work, and raise a family in Iowa. Now let’s finish the job — get that new terminal open and keep central Iowa moving.
