Every Iowa family, business, and community knows the value of planning ahead. You take care of what you have, fix problems before they get bigger, and invest what you’ll need down the road — and your tax dollars should work the same way.
My goal is simple: Bring Iowa tax dollars back from Washington and put them toward projects that make our communities stronger today and better prepared for tomorrow.
The Iowa approach: Build infrastructure before congestion gets worse, give farmers better information before the next flood or drought, create new opportunities for businesses to grow, and get more out of the resources we already have. It’s common sense: plan ahead, spend wisely, and build for the future. ⬇️
We’ve already secured nearly $60 million in Community Project Funding and helped deliver more than $175 million in total federal investments for Iowa. And we’re continuing to build on that success.
Here’s how we’re putting those tax dollars to work:
💧 $2M to expand ICON Water Trails and open more of the Des Moines River to families and visitors
✈️ $2.5M to extend the Ankeny Regional Airport runway and help Central Iowa businesses grow
🌧️ $500K to complete flood and drought monitoring across all 21 counties in our community
🛣️ $500K to improve the Highway 141 Interchange in Johnston and keep pace with the community’s rapid growth
Why it matters: These investments mean better roads and transportation, earlier warnings for farmers and first responders, new opportunities for local businesses, and communities better equipped for what comes next.
Bottom Line: Iowans know what their communities need better than Washington does. I’ll keep listening to local leaders, bringing your tax dollars back to Iowa, and investing them in projects that solve problems today, prepare for tomorrow, and keep Iowa moving forward.
