Last week, I stood with Minburn Mayor Joe Stuelteberg and USDA Under Secretary Glen Smith to talk about something every Iowan should be able to count on — clean, reliable water when they turn on the tap.
In Minburn, that starts with replacing water lines installed in the 1950s that have caused water main breaks, boil orders, and inadequate water pressure. Now, the $2 million investment we secured is helping the community replace those aging lines and build a water system families can rely on for decades to come. ⬇️
Why it matters: Clean water is essential infrastructure for Iowa families. When a water system fails, a reservoir faces new pressure, or extreme weather hits, the impact reaches far beyond the water itself: it affects public safety, agriculture, economic growth, and families’ everyday lives.
Getting water quality right today means stronger, more resilient Iowa communities for generations to come.

💧 Protecting drinking water at Saylorville and Rathburn by tackling sediment, phosphorus, and long-term water supply needs.
🌧️ Expanding real-time monitoring across all 21 counties in our community to better prepare for floods and droughts
🌱 Advancing Iowa-led solutions that give farmers and communities more tools to improve water quality
Bottom Line: Iowans know where their water problems start, and they’ve given us the ideas to deliver solutions. I’ll keep taking those ideas and putting them to work from the watershed to the water coming out of your tap.
