Last week, the world watched in horror as Iranian-backed Hamas launched barbaric attacks against Israel. This unprecedented act of war by Hamas against Israel has resulted in thousands of civilians killed, injured, or taken hostage, including Americans. The U.S. cannot stand idly by and must respond with unwavering strength and support for our ally.
I’ve been leading the charge in Congress to respond to these deadly acts of terror. Last week, I introduced a bipartisan resolution to condemn this Iranian-backed terrorist attack, hold Hamas accountable, and reinforce that the United States stands ready to consider additional assistance to support Israel in defending her sovereignty. Hundreds of U.S. citizens were trapped in Israel seeking evacuation, and I am proud to have assisted Iowans in escaping dangerous conditions in Israel and they have now made a safe return home.
Today, I took another step forward to combat acts of global terrorism and introduced the Revoke Iranian Funding Act to permanently freeze $6 billion in Iranian assets and increase transparency to prevent Iran from perpetrating future terrorist attacks against Israel or any other nation.
Bottomline: The U.S. must be unequivocable in our support of Israel. I’ll keep fighting to ensure we fully support our strongest ally in the Middle East.
